Hi, I’m Dan Stribling and I’m the founder of Insomnia Hypnotherapy Australia – I use various approaches, including hypnosis, to help people who suffer from poor sleep to start sleeping well.
I struggled aimlessly with insomnia myself for almost 8 years, before finding a solution in hypnotherapy.
Now I utilise my experience and knowledge to help others who are in a similar situation.
My journey to hypnotherapy began when I started meditating to solve sleeping issues, a little over 11 years ago.
Although it helped and I absolutely loved (and still love) meditation, it didn’t solve the issues. I was often waking up 20 or more times a night. I tried all sorts of things to help me sleep better, but nothing really worked until I went to see a hypnotherapist.
I’d previously been a skeptic of hypnosis and hypnotherapy and was basically trying it as a last resort. I don’t think I really expected it to work, but I’d tried so many other things (and I was so frustrated) that I thought I’d try it. I’d tried meditation, sleeping pills, valerian extract, melatonin, supplements and other herbs and nothing seemed to be of much help. The sleeping pills worked at first but, as anyone who struggles with insomnia will tell you, you don’t feel very rested and the soporific effect of them tends to wear off after a few weeks or months.
My sleep routine was horrific and it quickly led to me needing to sleep in a separate bed. After a while, even sleeping in a separate bed didn’t help and I was letting my issues control my life. Every decision I made was essentially made with my sleep in mind – I couldn’t go out too late because it would mean I’d be too tired the next day, I had to sleep with earplugs or else I would get no sleep whatsoever, I had to sleep on my left side, I panicked if I missed part of my nighttime routine. If someone asked me about my sleep, I felt almost competitive, in a way – I felt like I had to prove that my sleep was much worse than theirs! Looking back now, I was doing so many terrible things and I never had a hope of getting decent sleep, the way I was going.
Enter hypnosis. After a hypnotherapy session, I slept through the night for the first time in almost 8 years, and have continued to sleep soundly ever since. It’s not an exaggeration to say that this was genuinely life-changing for me. Fixing my sleeping issues has completely changed my life, not just because it led to me doing what I do now. I discovered new energy, motivation and drive and learned what it’s like to have a good sleep again. I’d slept so badly for so long, that I’d forgotten what it feels like to be fully rested.
The amazing experience I had personally inspired me to, first learn more about hypnosis, before training as a hypnotherapist myself, as I want to share the secrets I’ve learned with other people. I’m passionate about what I do and about helping others achieve results. If you’re prepared to work hard towards achieving your goal, I’ll help you get there.

What Clients Are Saying:
A Safe, Simple and Effective Treatment
Whether you’ve recently acquired a sleep issue or whether it’s been around for years, I’d like to hear from you to see if we’re a good fit.
Hypnosis can help with such a variety of issues, that it would almost be more worthwhile to list what it can’t help with. The following is a list of some of the common issues that clients seek help with:
– Sleep issues (both getting to, and staying, asleep),
– Stopping smoking,
– Weight loss,
– Adherence to diet and fitness plans,
– Fear of flying,
– Fear of death,
– Specific phobias relating to objects, other people or events,
– Lack of confidence in social situations,
– Difficulties with public speaking,
– Improving performance in a particular aspect of their life (such as at work or in a sport),
– Sexual issues,
– Addiction to drugs or alcohol (or other addictive substances),
– Removal of bad habits (like nail biting, for instance),
– Pain control (note that this is not something I specialise in and I would recommend seeking help from someone who does).
It differs, depending on the issue you’re seeing me for and which session of the program it is but, generally speaking, they’re between 60 and 90 minutes.
You won’t generally “feel” like you’ve been hypnotised; hypnosis just feels like a very deep state of relaxation. At no point will you go from being relaxed to suddenly being in trance, it’s a very gradual process and you’ll just become more and more relaxed.
